Our focus is to help the pets in need in our community, but we know no borders when it comes to helping pets without homes.    We are not an animal control facility; our shelter does not accept found or stray pets unless there are special circumstances. We are a rescue; that means that we accept pets that are owned and no longer able to be cared for or those who have been abandoned and left behind. We also accept pets from other shelters and organizations when our help is requested.    Our goal is to become an open-admission no-kill shelter. Open admission means that we would never need to turn away a pet that comes to our door. Currently, we are always asked to help more pets than we physically have the space to house in our shelter facility.                        Once an animal is accepted, we commit to keeping the pet until a home is found. Our promise to every pet that comes through the door; they remain safe with us until a forever home can be found. That promise comes with a hefty price tag; Second Chance Pet Rescue operates solely on donations.                                Shelter Benefits        Pets find homes more quickly        Animals engage with readers        Receive kindness, compassion, empathy.        Show positive behavioral changes.                            Student Benefits        12% Increase in Intellectual Reading/li>        Fosters Empathy Compassion and Kindness        Increase self confidence        Participants Increase by 2 Grade Levels                                                                          ×                      Claire's Reading Foundation (2024) - All Rights Reserved// Script to open and close sidebarfunction w3_open() {  document.getElementById("mySidebar").style.display = "block";  document.getElementById("myOverlay").style.display = "block";}function w3_close() {  document.getElementById("mySidebar").style.display = "none";  document.getElementById("myOverlay").style.display = "none";}function onClick(element) {  document.getElementById("img01").src = element.src;  document.getElementById("modal01").style.display = "block";  var captionText = document.getElementById("caption");  captionText.innerHTML = element.alt;}
